Company History

Our history is directly traceable back to 1890 with the beginnings of the Rover Car Company (yes, the Rover Car Company), established at that time as a manufacturer of bicycles. The great-grandfather of our present proprietor, Jamie Gibbon, was appointed Scottish distributor.

Rover produced its first motorcycle in 1902, switching to cars in 1926, when James Gibbon Motors was appointed main Rover Distributor for Glasgow and the West of  Scotland - continuing for the next 50 years.

Jamie Gibbon's lifelong affair with Jaguars began in 1969 with his purchase of an XK120 FHC. He was subsequently involved in setting up the Scottish Branch of the Jaguar Drivers' Club, organising hill climbs, sprints and circuit races. In 1971 he played a major part in obtaining the Jaguar Franchise for James Gibbon Motors.

Jamie Gibbon established GIBBON & WILSON and J.G.JAGSPARES  in 1975 after James Gibbon Motors was sold to the Appleyard Group. He continues to be an enthusiast and business proprietor in equal measure, providing specialist spares, maintenance and repairs to Jaguar owners in the UK and overseas.
